Ford – Roadside Attractions

For the fourth year in a row, Ford and Cottage Life embarked on an ultimate escape, highlighting Canada’s most adventurous roadside attractions while driving a 2016 Ford Escape. To evolve the campaign from previous years, Media Solutions put a fresh twist on the execution and added new destinations. The new campaign surprised real people, catching them completely off guard and sending them on weekend escapes to experience the most unique attractions in Canada. From summer dog sledding to kayaking with whales, each #UltimateEscape was told in a cinematic documentary style that weaved in the 2016 Ford Escape and its features.

The videos had an overall enjoyment score that was 28% higher than the Canadian norm, and 19% higher than North American norm (Millward Brown findings). The digital series and complementary editorial on CottageLife.com, garnered more than 12 million impressions and 850,000 video views. It was further amplified by Google’s reach, which over performed by 134%.

Coors Light – Climb That Mountain

In support Coors Light’s campaign, Climb that Mountain, which encouraged millennials to conquer their own personal summits, the beer company threw an epic rooftop party, where the only way to attend was by climbing a rock wall. Atop one of Toronto’s most popular venues, climbers were treated to an afternoon of refreshing pints and live music, including a performance by popular Toronto DJ duo, Thugli.

Supported by Blue Ant Media, the campaign was promoted by influencer activations and an engagement-focused digital media plan. The Party was captured by Media Solution’s production team in a series of light-hearted videos that appealed to Coors Light’s adventure-seeking audience, in both English and French.

The content pieces were amplified by the Blue Ant Media performance and saw a reach of over 13 million impressions.

Becel – Anything Goes Cookie Dough

Winner of a silver Cassie for Events, Seasonal and Short Term in the CPG Category.

Unilever turned to Media Solutions to help drive new reasons to use Becel beyond just spreading. First, Unilever developed a unique baking recipe that could transform the way Canadians used margarine; the Anything Goes Cookie Dough is a versatile master cookie dough recipe to which users can add virtually any combination of flavours for consistently soft and chewy cookies, guaranteed.

On a modest budget, Media Solutions then created a television spot that creatively promoted the recipe and its key message that Becel is great for baking. Inspired by the “food porn” recipe video craze, the spot’s, two camera angles—top down and extreme close-up—emphasized the mouth-watering visuals. On-screen text and jump cuts played up the recipe’s simplicity. The spot ended with four plates of delicious soft and chewy cookies, all made with the same base recipe. After receiving an overwhelmingly green consumer test score via Millward Brown, the simple, engaging and contemporary recipe spot helped Becel steal the most share from butter in category history.
